B.C. Government Employee Leisure Travel
As a B.C. government employee you are eligible to receive discounts on your personal
leisure travel accommodation from the properties listed below.
Leisure travel rates are available only to employees of the B.C. government, and their immediate families. Immediate family members are defined as:
- the spouse, child, parent, guardian, sibling, grandchild or grandparent of an employee; or
- any person who lives with an employee as a member of the employee's family (e.g. foster child).
As the employee, you must be travelling with your family member(s) to be eligible and no more than two rooms per night may be reserved.
Leisure travel rate offered by properties is available only to employees of the B.C. government. Pricing is only published on this site. Properties are not obligated to offer a leisure travel rate at the same discounted business travel rate. Therefore, some leisure rates may be higher than the posted business travel rate or the property’s web-site offering a rate that is only applicable if booking through their website.
Employees will be solely responsible for making payment to properties for leisure travel stays. Please note: the Province will assume no responsibility or liability for any amounts owing to properties for leisure travel stays. Properties' normal billing and payment requirements apply. Employees will use personal payment methods (credit card, debit card, cash) for leisure travel stays, as accepted by the property.
Properties may request proof of employment. Acceptable identification will include valid business card, BC Government photo identification, BC Government email address, union card or pay stub.
Room Rates and Availability
Properties may offer leisure travel rates for all categories of room; e.g. standard room, suite, premium room and specialty suite. Rates should be honoured at all times including weekends. Properties may specify Blackout Period.
The leisure travel rate will remain firm for the year. The Province reserves the right to de-list a property that does not honour its submitted leisure travel rate.
Notice to De-List
Properties will be permitted to request that their listing be removed from the employee leisure travel listing at any time during the year, on 30 days written notice to Accommodation@gov.bc.ca.
Terms and Conditions of Room Rental
Other than the terms and conditions described here, the rental of rooms for employee leisure travel stay will be subject to a property's regularly posted terms and conditions.
Please note: the Province will assume no responsibility or liability for the rental of rooms by its employees when the rental is for the employee's personal leisure travel purposes.
